Actual message on School Answering Machine in Australia.

FW:

This is the message that the **Maroochydore High
School, Queensland, Australia** staff voted unanimously
to record on their school telephone answering machine.

This is the actual  answering machine message for
the school.

This came about because they implemented a policy
requiring students and parents to be responsible for their
children's absences and missing homework.

The  school and teachers are being sued by parents who
want their children's failing grades changed to passing
grades - even though those children were absent 15-30
times during the semester and did not complete enough
school work to pass their classes.

This is actually completely made up. It's actually not at this school.

A simple google search will show you.
The proof is on http://www.snopes.com/humor/iftrue/palisades.asp

Brad, Snopes' article stated that it was not Pacific Palisades High School and, although there was a mention of Maroochydore High
School, no denial or confirmation was added.

Even if it's not true...it's spot on!

Yeah, because spreading more falsehoods is what we need. Shame on you Brad!

Why isn't society THIS REAL???? Seriously, this was hilarious, because it's true and what we've all thought at some point in time....whether we have children or just know someone who does!!!!

Absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!! When will we catch up. This is not funny in the light of 'The Truth Of The Matter'. We as a people have lost
our boundaries and the benefits that go with them. It is our children whom will pay the brunt of the price. Too bad it is not the 'Americans' whom are leading as we once did. What will it take?

This "legend" is actually based on a school in CA instituting a failing grade policy for too many absences and tardies. This is documented here http://www.snopes.com/humor/iftrue/palisades.asp and is actually an interesting read.

I don't think any school board or school would actually have the balls to put a message like this (especially the part where they invite you to move to another country). The school system is dependent on the community, and although it feels satisfying to finally have someone tell it like it is, how would you feel if you had a child in high school and was welcomed by such a message when you happened to call.

Whether it's fake or not doesn't matter, I think it's a great e-mail. This is an example of why this world is falling apart, no respect or accountability from anyone anymore and some/a lot of parents are the problem.

It's not true, and while it is funny, I really, REALLY dislike when stories are presented as true when they're not. Especially when it's easy enough to find out for sure. It'd be better if it was presented as what it is - a joke that is so true and it would be great if a school actually did it, but could never actually do it.

Brad, you must work on reading comprehension. The Snopes article is clarifying this is untrue with regards to a school in CA. You are part of the problem that leads to this type of response from a school.

Look this up on hoax-slayer and you'll see that the Australian school version is also not true. While funny, myself coming from a family of teachers, schools anywhere in the world would get in trouble for putting this up.

read the ENTIRE snopes page: http://www.snopes.com/humor/iftrue/palisades.asp

"A March 2009 version (circulated with an MP3 recording) identified the institution with the unusual phone message as Maroochydore High School, in Queensland, Australia, and added a further "menu option" of 'If you want this in another language, move to a country that speaks it.' "

Brad's comprehension is fine, yours is in doubt.
